With a single truck, Denny Bell founded University Park Plumbing & Heating Co. in 1926, laying the groundwork for a service-first company built on reliability, hard work, and trust within the local community.
1933
Raising the Standard of Service
In 1933, Denny Bell earned his Master Plumber’s License, reinforcing the company’s dedication to professional excellence, proper craftsmanship, and the highest standards in plumbing service for the community.
1943
A Legacy Takes Shape
In 1943, Denny Bell assumed the name of his father’s plumbing business, originally founded in 1908 and officially became Bell Plumbing and Heating Co. With the addition of an office and product showroom, the company expanded its presence and gave customers a hands-on way to explore trusted plumbing and heating solutions.
1946
Industry Leadership Recognized
In 1946, Denny Bell was elected President of the Colorado Association of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors, a testament to his leadership, expertise, and influence within the growing trades industry.
1947
Officially Incorporated
Bell Plumbing and Heating Company was formally incorporated in the State of Colorado in 1947, marking a major milestone leading to long-term growth, structure, and stability for the business.
1949
Supporting Landmark Projects
Bell played a role in local infrastructure by installing refrigeration lines for the University of Denver Ice Arena, showcasing the company’s expanding technical capabilities beyond residential work.
1950
Expanding With Denver’s Growth
As Denver experienced a post-World War II housing boom, Bell expanded its services to include residential remodels and custom cabinetry—helping homeowners modernize and improve their living spaces.
1955
A Regional Industry Leader
By 1955, Bell had grown into one of the largest plumbing and heating contractors west of the Mississippi River, proudly serving more than 10,000 active customer accounts.
1959
Commercial Construction Takes Off
While residential service remained a core offering, Bell expanded into commercial construction as demand grew, broadening the company’s expertise and project scope.
1963
Innovation Meets Public Trust
Bell donated the first garbage disposal to the Colorado Governor’s Mansion, helping demonstrate the safety and practicality of the technology at a time when it was not yet widely accepted.
1965
Serving During Crisis
Following the devastating South Platte River floods—the most destructive flood in Colorado history—Bell assisted with restoration efforts, reinforcing its commitment to the community during times of need.
1976
A New Generation of Leadership
Larry Bell served as President of the Colorado Association of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors, continuing the family tradition of leadership within the industry.
1998
Entering the Digital Age
Bell launched its first website in 1998, embracing new technology to better connect with customers and share information in an increasingly digital world.
1999
Strategic Focus Shift
In 1999, Bell made the strategic decision to shut down its new construction division, allowing the company to refocus on service-driven operations and customer care.
2001
Making Way for Progress
Bell’s longtime office at 4201 E. Evans Avenue was acquired through eminent domain as part of the T-REX light rail project, alongside more than 200 surrounding properties.
2002
A New Home for the Future
Bell relocated to a 43,000-square-foot facility in Aurora, a former lumber yard that provided space for installation materials, fleet operations, and a retail showroom.
2020
Evolving How We Serve Customers
Bell moved to a new location and closed its retail showroom to focus entirely on in-home consultations, aligning with changing customer preferences and service needs.
2025
Blending Technology With Personal Service
In 2025, Bell introduced AI-powered tools to streamline scheduling and deliver faster customer support—while continuing to maintain a fully staffed, in-house team to ensure every customer still speaks with a real person.

In 1959, a Denver Post business editor asked Douglas Bell a simple yet profound question: “Will there always be a Bell in the plumbing business in Denver?”
Without hesitation, he replied: “My oldest son Larry, 14, thinks the business is terrific. He worked here all summer, and if there was any way out of it, he wouldn’t even have returned to school last fall.”
